Seems backwards :? if 1 is most liveable and 50 is least, then the higher the points the less liveable the state is?
So...? or did i miss the obvious?

I think it is funny that the southern states are in the 40 - 50 area. I use to hear all these bad things about Mississippi but when I moved here I learned that it is such a well kept secret. There is a lot of wealth here and it affords me a better lifestyle than I had in Chicago and also a much more relaxed atmosphere. I love the southern states. People are more outgoing and willing to help a stranger than anywhere else I've ever travelled.

I was gonna say the same thing. SC is good ol 48. I'd like to see where the author is from, and how the ratings were made. And what he means by "most liveable" I think that SC is a great place to live. I can drive to the mountians in 30 mins. I can be at a lake in 5 mins. I can be at the ocean in less than 5 hours. That seems like a great place to live to me. There are some ignorate rednecks, but i think you get that everywhere. The only other state beside SC i'd like to live in would be CO. I love the mountians. All that time for Mtn. Biking, skiing, hiking. That would be great. CO is my #1, SC is a close 2nd.
Iowa is #2..... i bet the author loves corn....

It explains the system they used at the bottom. But it doesn't list the factors they took into account...I mean what they categorized as making a state livable or not livable...

C'mon- #40 percent of days that are sunny?, #35 books in public libraries per capita, #39 normal daily mean temperature #18 population per square mile??? Most of those factors are laughable. I was expecting more concise information.
