Default 3800 HELL part 2

Well I finally got my car Back... Other than a small problem with the adjustable shift modulator everything was great transmission shifted great I was happy.
Last night I went home after work and Parked the car and went to sleep. I returned to the car in the morning to return to work only to find it side swiped... Pics will be up soon but to describe the damage caved in driverside rear quarter panel, door, front fender damage and the mirror. I am at a loss for words at the moment. where I parked that evening was a desalet (spelling) area so no one saw them hit my car. The worst and some what humors part of it is they took the center caps of my rims as well and left no debris on the floor. (priceless) . I am at a dilema... Spent more money on repairs or sell the car and look for another one.

I hate NY

Keep the car. Fix it and move to an area farther from the retartds in astoria? (if you can find cheap rent). If you get another car you will be playing Russian roulett with the tranny in a couple of months. Even with a newly rebuilt tranny the car won't sell for much with its current body damage.

P.*. I hate New York City just as much or more so!

Ouch. That sucks. What is your insurance situation? The money you will get for it fixed or unfixed, plus out of pocket/deductable, are all part of the equation. Then the grief/dollars ratio is also part of it. ie If you go thru all the stuff for the claim and repair and the difference in net return is small by your standards, then you might just want to say "NEXT!".

I worked in NYC for a year and sold my car before I went. It was actually cheaper (insurance, parking etc) and less headaches to use the subway system.

Good Luck. Hope you find a clear path.

When I was in New York, every 2nd car had some kind of damage to it. I guess its to be expected the way I saw some people driving. The 278 through Queens....what a mess not to mention the princesses driving in Manhattan talking on the cellphone, enjoying the tastiest smoke, while trying to make a tough left turn in traffic.

Sucks when your car is blindsided, but, almost has to be expected.

...and I've only been to NYC once! :?

Well it was a hit and run and I don't have collision so I am screwed there.

Even I laughed on how true this is.

Man, you can't win for losing with this car, can ya?

I know NYC traffic. It'* friggen' scary. People there have no fear when it comes to playing vehicular chicken. And I too noticed every other car having some sort of battle damage. Orlando is starting to get that way now.

If you buy another car, try to transplant the engine/trans combo out of your current ride. That way, you actually get to keep *some* of you money that you invested in it.

Talked to the wife (25 years in personal/auto insurance). If you still have Comp, there is a 1 in 10 chance that your insurer might take it as vandalism, since it was hit and run or a joy ride, and stuff was stolen. You would have to file a police report. Again, it'* a long shot, but I'm trying to give any straw that'* out there.

NYC is the pits on cars. When I drive on 278 in Queens, I have to prepare mentally as if I was going to drive in an amateur version of the Daytona 500. Then in Manhatten there is the "New York pullout". You're stopped at a light 3 feet behind the car in front of you. The cab to your right wants to pull into your lane. He sticks the left front corner of the cab in the 3 foot space. Your choice is let him in or have an accident. But nobdy gets pissed about this, because that'* the way it is done.
