I'd definitely hit it.
Everything I've been reading says it gets the new Tremec TR6060 that replaced the T-56, which is in very high demand and why a 6 speed manual trans option isn't available for the first run of G8s...GM simply doesn't have enough of them to cover all of it'* performance cars(or so I've heard).

The G8 makes me sad.
I look at all the work I'm potentially doing to my car and I think, wow it probably still won't come close to the G8 :(

It'* okay to look around, dream about what you could have and strive for more in the future but minimize what you're doing. Every mod, every addition will bring you knowledge and experience you can take forward. You'll get a lot more personal satisfaction out of what you achieve than what is provided to you.
Enjoy your car, make it you
