Drive Thru Veterinarian Services

So I'll give this a little back story. We're good friends with a local Veterinarian and his family, back in February I noticed the front of his office was covered with plywood (shopping center right across US-41 from my neighborhood), and didn't really think anything of it...maybe a window broke by accident, etc. something normal right?

so tonight, we were out with them to dinner and got the full story.

i'll let this speak for itself first.

Apparently the lady mistook drive for reverse and the gas for the brake  , ran VERY quickly over a pretty high curbed parking median, and up the other curb, pictured in the video (with chips on the curb.) at around an estimated 40 mph, and PLOWED into the office.

the MOST INTERESTING PART OF IT ALL, is that the office is normally PACKED with people, and that day actually had over 10 people scheduled, as normally planned, but marty, the vet, just happen to call in sick. and oddly enough...everyone but ONE person just happened to be there, and that ONE person just happen to walk over to an adjacent store. in addition, there are two resident felines to the office who commonly sleep by the front glass for the warmth of the sun, who both decided to just not do that, that day. and I'm sure everyone noticed the pedestrian on the sidewalk moments before impact.

freaky right? timing couldn't have been better for the incident

the woman driving is a doctor herself, in the field of sports medicine. coincidentally, got nearly completely off the hook and was only issued a ticket for wreckless driving.

case is still open though, and they're trying to get about 150k+ to fix damages, etc.

I'll get a video tomorrow of how it seems so impossible for it to happen.

Also, anyone who I've ever ranted to about these friggin people and their nice cars around here with their heads...well...frankly, so far up their ass that they don't care to drive right...this doesn't even shock me that much. Looks like the same jaguar that used to run the stop sign coming INTO that shopping center who actually nearly hit me twice. :x

that's pretty amazing, but, if she did it on accident, shouldn't that be careless driving, and not wreckless?

yeah...basically the M. O. of just about everyone around here with the luxury cars. (which is basically half or more of the drivers on the road at any given time)

NO ONE signals, they just change lanes like its a freakin stock car race, they dont stop at stop signs, they dont stop on stop lines, they run designated red turning lights, including several normal red lights that i've personally witnessed someone stopping and going right through it like a stopsign.

these people around here, generally, drive like a pack of careless assholes.

just WAITING for the white curse to find me

Things like that happened quite often when I lived in MI. Now I just assume if a front of a store is all boarded up like that... that's what happened. The blockbuster got his like three times in six years if I remember correctly
