Default Totally pissed off

I bought a '92 Silverado a few months ago. Seller said she was the original owner, never had a problem with the truck, don't burn oil, don't leak oil, yada yada yada.

My faith in humanity is at it'* lowest right now. By the time I got the truck home, a 50 mile drive, it was leaking oil from around the rear of the motor. Took it on a long drive a few weeks later and found that it burns about a quart of oil in 500 miles.

Owner also said she was getting 27 mpg which I knew was an exageration but I liked the truck and as long as it was getting more than 20 it was better than what I had.

So, it gets about 22 mpg, not bad for a 305 TBI.

Today I decided to remove the oil pan and try to fix up the leak as best I could. While I had the pan off, I pulled a main bearing and a con rod bearing to see what they looked like.

Mains were .0006 oversize, and the connecting rods were .013 oversize, and, they weren't in very good shape. Explains why the oil pressure drops so much when its hot.
Had a good look at the crankshaft and it did not look all that great either. :(

Everything points to this motor getting a back yard overhaul at some point in time.

Since I don't have the time or inclination to rip out the motor and replace/ repair it, I'm putting it up for sale.
