Can't hurt to check fluids (brake, power steering, radiator, oil, flux capacitor)
Burn some good CDs so you don't get bored. :P
And I always keep $20 in $5 bills somewhere like my ash tray in case the need ever arises to use it.

I have a tote that I keep a small socket set in, spare oil, coolant, tranny fluid, ps fluid, cig lighter airpump,fix-a-flat, the old serp belt (its still usable), old wipers (if you've ever lost one and scored your window you'd keep a spare too) , two old spark plugs and wires, hydraulic jack, good 4way lug wrench, a gallon of distilled water, and a blanket. <whew> I'm ready for most small breakdowns.

If your driving late try not to have too much air on the higher parts of your HVAC like the dash vents, defrost. It dries out your eyes and makes you sleepy.
Stop at rest areas with things to look at/do.
Drink plenty of fluids.
Have a great mix of music you like, and jam out the whole way there.

thats not bad.
two sodas, stop only for gas, drink only when you have to.
take an audiobook if you want, but i found cds are better. you have to change about every hour which keeps you alert, and you can always crank it up and sing along if you become in danger of dozing.
