Deal Or No Deal

My mom has 2 vehicles right now... a wheelchair van for my bro, which we are trying to sell, and a 1998 Chevy Lumina. Once she sells the van she is going to be looking for an Aztek, but she doesn’t want to get rid of the Lumina, because she's had it since 1998...
I might have a chance to buy the Lumina then. If I was to buy it I could probably get it for what ever I could sell my Bonneville for. I'm not sure if I want to do it though. The car is a 98 but it has 156,000 miles on it. My car has 140,000. I know my car should last me to 200,000 which is what I want but I don’t know about Luminas. It’s also purple. What do you guys think? Should I sell the Bonne and buy my moms car or just sell the Lumina and keep the bonne.

Have you driven both? Did a back to back comparo? Do a lot of aggressive driving with each car and decide which you prefer.

Yep, which one do you like/enjoy driving more?

Having driven both a Bonne the same years as yours and Luminas in the same year you mentioned I can say I would stick with the Bonne.

If you're familiar with how to work on it and there are no major problems with it why get rid of it, unless you're tired of it.

the only thing that would make me want the Lumina more would be just that it's 6 years newer... but yes I have driven the Lumina a lot... its what I drive when my bonne is being worked on. I like driven the bonne better, more options, and more comfortable. And I know that the Lumina has been well taken care of, in no accidents… and I know the bonne has been in at least two and I don’t know the previous owners.

What model Lumina? If it is an LTZ, then it's a 3.8L and isn't a bad car. I just sold my 1998 Lumina LTZ with 159k on it. Ran good when sold. They are nice cars, but nothing compated to the bonneville. Also, you'll get much more useful information on here than on MyMonte.com.

The 3.1L is a decent motor, but less hp. It has it's own set of issues, just like the bonneville. Your issues will be different than the bonneville as well, so you'll have to learn those too.

I say, unless you enjoy driving the Lumina better, keep the bonneville

Why go to a car with less features, less engine (yours is miles more reliable), and more miles?

Hold old a car is, is just a number. they made the body style until 99.
