Default So... what do you guys know about programming?

I wanna make a little program to do some repetative calcs for me. I know I don't want it console so I'm going to need a "compiler"?

Basically, I know TI-BASIC, HTML, Javascript, and mIRC scripting. I want some sort of language and free program to make windows programs easily. I'm tired of running the bloated MS Works Spreadsheet on this p2 450.

I tried learning C and C++ earlier this week, Those suck. Dr.Jay keeps telling me Visual Basic, but there'* no free programs for that.

Someone please help this idiot.

there is a java editor called Eclipse located at www.eclipse.org that is free. it is a JAVA developement environment with some useful tools for the novice java developer. Plus there is extensive tutorials on it. The only thing it doesn't have is a drag and drop form creator. but you can still program graphical user interfaces manually. I use this in school for my classes.
