Lounge For casual talk about things unrelated to General Motors. In other words, off-topic stuff. And anything else that does not fit Section Description.

WTF? This is ridiculous.

The hills around me got a nice thick dusting. It'll be interesting the next couple days to see how much more we get.

Today:
Rain and snow showers in the morning...then showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms and small hail in the afternoon. Snow level rising to 1000 feet. Local accumulations up to 1 inch. Highs 45 to 50. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Tonight:

Showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms and small hail in the evening...then rain and snow showers after midnight. Snow level 1000 feet. Snow accumulation up to 1 inch. Lows 30 to 35. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday:
Rain and snow showers in the morning...then showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms and small hail in the afternoon. Snow level 500 feet rising to 1000 feet in the afternoon. Snow accumulation up to 1 inch. Highs 45 to 50. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Not until someone proves it more than the theory that it is (it chaps my hide that schools are teaching it as proven fact).

Call it climate change? We have swings in the climate all the time. We had snow in May of 1901 here in the valley. Was that global warming too?

Just because it is a theory, does not mean there is no basis to it. Look up "theory" in the dictionary. The theory of relativity is one of the most significant scientific advances of our time. People confuse climate change and weather all the time. They are not the same. Based on temperatures over a period of time, it is a fact they have increased slightly. What is not know and most widely disputed is what is causing the change. Some say it is cyclical and inevitiable, others say it is due to man-made carbon emissions. I don't know the answer. In any event, I think it wise to try and reduce our use of fossil fuels to the extent possible.

Barry, if it'* a theory (and it is), then it should be taught as a THEORY, and not FACT.

Code:
"We are living in a time of climatic hardship with lots of unseasonable warmth, similar to the weather the U.*. experienced from the 1930s to 1950s. The winter of 1949-50 may be the best analog to this winter -- cold and snowy in the Pacific Northwest but very warm from Texas to New England."

Source: AccuWeather.com

Just like the 30'*, when our pollution was affected by the 10-year period before it.
