Go Google 1812 and see what made it so popular. Other than the fact that Napolean wanted a song to celebrate winning the war of 1812. Something about the Boston Pops in 1984ish? Wanna see something cool, goto Watertown, NY on the 4th of July. The Syracuse Symphony Orchestra plays that night with Fort Drum Field Artillery backing them up when they play 1812.

It'* even better the way they did it a Ft Hood one year. Got the cannons going, AND a bunch of soldiers rappelling out of Blackhawk helicopters onto the field, with Apaches hovering and providing cover... Gave me goosebumps for a month!!
