cruise control not working - 93 lumina 3.4
cruise does not work at all...
with my multimeter i have tested the switch and the wiring down at where it plugs into the servo.. works perfect... figuring it would be the servo, i picked up a used one ($20) today.. still doesnt work... what else do i need to test? |
Did u check vacuum lines?
|
they are both there.. connected.. what could be wrong with them
|
old, Rotten, Dry... Crack in them.... something... :?
|
they arent new looking by all means.. but they will hold air.. no doubt..
there is a big and a small.. should i be able to feel a vacuum or pressure at idle with my finger? |
Does it have a brake cut-off switch? I assume it does and worth making sure its working right. This would sense brake fluid pressure and turn off cruise when you step on the brakes.

Correct me if im wrong
but that car has the same module as GM uses right now ? Just happen to have a pic handy... Attachment 52282 could you not go to a JY and grab one for testing purposes |
ReallyAGXP-
GM did not use the Same one though out all the same years ;) heres what the 88-95 bonnies use https://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g...Picture475.jpg |
This is the same problem I'm having with MINE. If you find out let me know exactly what you did. I have replaced the servo with a new one...replaced the module...replaced the switch, checked the fuse, and the vacuum lines hold air just fine.
Andrew, if you're talking about the two vacuum lines connected to the servo, the big one is the break cutoff switch and the little one is the actual vacuum line that goes to the vac canister. You will only hear a hiss from the small one. About the only thing I've seen that could be wrong here is the wires in the steering column...those are the only wires that really could be disconnected or something. |
oOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO.... it worked temperamental!!!
i was out doing errands driving at 60mph.. then all of a sudden the gas kicks down and im going 70.. i never touched the switch... i hit the brake and it went off .. then i tested it again and it worked.. so i thought i was golden... then driving home it wouldnt work :? |
Something is intermittent. Anything else electrical acting alright? I'd check the grounds it runs of off, and other wiring, especially in the firewall entry point.
|
Does it have a fuse? Did you check that?
|
worked for a while on the way to work today... i was going 65mph via the cruise and i wanted to go 70.. the ACC button wouldnt work... when i shut it off it wouldnt work at all anymore
all fuses are fine |
Haro thats the same problem mine was having.. and now its dead 100% :(
|
Haro... Do you have an old scantool handy?

no... just my A-B pin connector
|
So no codes at all from the ECM?
Sometime you could get a Vent solenoid codes if you have a Vac line that may be collapsing or getting sucked down... and that could cause some issues with the system... Its a strange system... Its electronically controlled but vacume actuated ... __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |
ya no codes... i think im gonna replace the shotty vacuum lines just to be sure...
