'90 Lumina APV Rack and Pinion
Found my wife'* trusty 225k 1990 Lumina APV leaking fluid tonight. I've never replaced a rack but have been handy in turning wrenchs, replacing and rebuilding engines etc....
What'* involved and should I give it a try. As old as it is I can't break it!
Thanks

i guess as our resident dustbuster owner i'll field this question. it'* a bitch. you gotta drop the back of the cradle down a bit. i'll send you the procedure from haynes in a PM if you'd like. also here'* a link to a really crappy Dustbuster forum. (why do you think i hang out here?)

it'* actually for the poncho'* but most of the mechanicals are the same. (spring rates are a bit different and the interiors are nothing alike, but under the hood they're the same...

it'* away. and that took forever. i'm not volenteering to that again...
while you got the cradle dropped you should pull that 3.1 and toss it into your neighbor'* pool. grab yourself a weilder and fab up a set of motor mounts and drop a caddy 4.9 in there. gobs of torque and your current computer and wiring harness will run the TBI system with no problems. plus, everybody loves a V-8.
