Coolest Car

What is the coolest car you have ever owned or driven?
(Besides the Bonneville, everyone knows that is the coolest)
Mine would have to be my Aunts Hummer

bonnie94ssei 12-30-2007 05:43 PM

Haven't driven my parent's 50th Anniv. Vette yet, so I'd have to go with an '07 G35x sedan.

My brother's Mini Cooper S wasn't bad either.

Danthurs 12-30-2007 05:47 PM

That would have to be my old 1977 chevy van. That thing rocked, had a full queen sized bed in the back. My mom called it that damn hotel on wheels.

93-SSE 12-30-2007 05:56 PM

My dad's 1967 Mercury Cougar 8)

frikken awesome

96 Viper R/T10.
At 120mph around the outerbelt...

I worked at a parking lot back in 97, and when the guy came in, we were full up and taking keys. He was in a hurry, and was rather upset that I couldn't clear a space for him. He practically threw the keys at me, then took off running for his meeting.

He came back slightly after five, which is when I usually leave, but I remembered he had said he would be down right at five, so I stuck around to make sure he got his keys.(Knowing that if I turned them over to the manager, he'd probably take it for a run around the block, and get me in the sh*t)

He was very apologetic, saying that he had just come off a bad sales meeting, and was headed for another that looked to be worse. In an effort to make up for his rudeness, he insisted we take a spin around downtown. When we got down towards the interstate, he told me to take it down the exit, and we were off towards the outerbelt.

The coolest car I've ever driven is....sadly probably the 2006 Impala LTZ. I don't often get a chance to drive other people's cars. My friend (family friend) works for GM and he gets company cars.

he came down from Michigan to visit us and I mentioned that he had a nice car and I liked them He threw the keys at me and told me to enjoy myself.

I went pretty quickly (I was nervous.) I came back and said it was a really nice car. He looked at me and said "Did you beat on it?" I said "No" He gave me a frown and told me to get in the car and he drove....like a MANIC.

my coolest / most potential / wish i still had vehicle was my 68' camaro. i bought the nova first for $250 and then harassed the local camaro owner till he took $2500 for the car. 327 powerglide.

should have kept it.

the COOLEST car I've ever driven would probably have to be the 350z
I drove one at the stealership that I worked at for like a month and a half...

I thrashed it pretty good, but I wasn't impressed with the torque curve at all. It wasn't as fun as it could be, IMO.

Oh, and yah, it had the LSD

GonneVille 12-30-2007 06:37 PM

I've got a couple other nominees for the coolest one I've driven.
Another one at the lot was a turboed Geo Metro. The whole turbo could have fit inside a large coffe can and rattled...

The other was an absolutely mint, and I mean CHERRY, Lincoln MarkV. The only thing in the entire car that didn't work perfectly was one burned out element in the display one the 8-track radio. Even had a couple cartridges in the glove compartment. The dud who bought it did right by it, too. I ran into him a couple years later, and the thing had a 406ci stuffed in it, but he hadn't touched the body or interior, still perfectly cherry...

GoldenBullet 12-30-2007 06:45 PM

probably my aunts boyfriends 06? Mustang GT, that thing was fun, my dad was pissed when he found out i took it to 120 on the interstate...

TheDude 12-30-2007 06:52 PM

One of the coolest I drove was a 2007 Cadillac CTS-V. 400hp caddy with a 6 speed. Oh yeah. I have driven a fair share of bad azz muscle cars too. A 70 Hemi Cuda with a 4 speed. My bosses 81 Transam with a 650hp 428 BB. Just to name a few. But I think the best time I have is driving the city police cars. I would come up behind someone real fast and hit the "yelp" button for the siren. A couple of times I did that, the cars would turn and run. It was funny as hell.

Baileyjack 12-30-2007 07:15 PM

A friend of mine won 1 million in the 649 lottery years ago and the first thing she bought was a Dodge Stealth, not sure what year it was but i think it was the 2nd year they were out. She let me drive it for a few days. Closest i got to a little sports car.

Gumball 12-30-2007 07:30 PM

1967 LeMans conv.
1970 mark III .

The most fun car that I've driven was I think a '94 Mustang GT with a Powerdyne supercharged 5.0. Yellow, convertable, actually quite ugly, but it wasn't mine and it was left at our house for a week so I took it out a couple times.

My dad has a 1960 Chrysler Windsor that my brother and I are going to fix up once I'm done with school. It has the 305hp 383 Golden Lion engine. It's just sitting in a barn out on a farm... Looks like off white one below, only black...

S varients of the audis, turbo buicks. ferrari 328 gts. lighting and HD 150. AMG varients of the SLK, C and E class MB cars.

edit: 540i with the 6 speed, S2000, 350Z, eclipse GSX

chr0mius 12-30-2007 08:44 PM

1. Lotus Elise
2. 1974 Jaguar E-type (with V12)
3. 2004 Honda S2000 (at a track)
4. Countless AMG's/Bentley's/ (I used to work at a Luxury car dealership)
5. Audi S4
6. Nissan 350Z (before and after mods). I was unimpressed with the frame rigidity at high speeds.

i liked driving my last car alot, nothing special, just a firebird formula. when i had stock gears, i took it out on a deserted highway at aboot 2:30am up to 152. (6speed ftw) that was kinda scary. couldnt do that when i got 4.10's in the car, for obvious reasons.

but i drove a c6 corvette 6 speed before it came out on a test track at the carshow in motion stop they did here at the stl. that was fun, so was the goat.(car, not animal  )

btw: bonnie94ssei, your sig pic is cool. 8)

'69 Mustang Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet. It was built as a drag car then semi de-modded since its value grew. The only things that were really taken off were the 2 stages of nitrous and the slicks though. The motor was around 450hp and the tire and wheels were stock so it didn't hook for crap. A lot of fun to show off in. I rode in it with the owner who kept encouraging me to step on it. I did a few sideways 2-steps, walkin' it out.

EDIT: For those of you that don't know, this is what a '69 Mach 1 looks like...

Attachment 37258

*B2* 12-31-2007 02:03 PM

I like that Ranchero. I am working on a '66 Mustang coupe right now and my dad has a '68 Mustang coupe. I like the old Fords. What its powering it? My dad's has the 200 six and my project is a 289. No rare options here except the '66 is an original Pony interior car.

Blownville 12-31-2007 04:01 PM

Most of my goodies are listed in my siggy. It has a 60 over 302 Mexican block which has a taller deck, thicker mains, and thicker block altogether. GT40P heads milled .030, a 252H cam, Weiand Xcellerator intake, Holley 600 universal, complete MSD dist and ignition system, mustang shorty headers. It's backed by a early C-4 with a shift kit and 2000 stall converter. The rear is still the original 8 inch housing but has the later beefed center with more prominent ribs, and Richmond 4.11 posi. It needs a front end rebuild really bad and I just don't have the money or the few special tools to do it right. So for now it is gonna be a garage queen until I decide what to do with it.

Mopar MAN 12-31-2007 05:21 PM

Shoot, any car I drive is cool just because I'M driving it... :headbang2:

Actually. it would have to be a friend's 69 Charger 500. That was the version of the Charger they tried before the Daytona wing car, and is actually rarer. His is a Hemi, 4-speed, in Dark Blue with black vinyl roof and interior. It's a BEAST and 9/10ths....What made it really cool was that RICHARD PETTY stopped by while we were talking to look the car over. The KING himself......

Princess Jeanie 12-31-2007 05:29 PM

I haven't driven many cool cars, Trans Am was prolly the first cool car I rode in. Followed by the Lexus SUV...which was sweet!

aviator327 12-31-2007 06:31 PM

A brand new 1968 pontiac GTO whemn I got back from overseas.

Grimm 12-31-2007 07:00 PM

Tough choice for #1. I haven't driven too many cool/fast cars.

#1-My dad's 1970 Corvette (350 V8 )-It's fast, light and low so it handles nicer than my car.
https://img46.imageshack.us/img46/77/p1020076ca8.jpg
#2-My 1968 Cutlass (455 V8 )-Lots of torque, but not a cornering machine.
https://img201.imageshack.us/img201/916/p1010830wf3.jpg
#3-My mom's former red 1967 Mustang convertible that was traded in for my dad's Vette (289 V8 )-just a fun little car with some decent power.
#4-My neighbor's 1969 Pontiac Tempest (350 V8 )-Recently rebuilt and overbored, also had positraction put in. Manual brakes though.
https://img177.imageshack.us/img177/...1010765tv8.jpg
#5-Nothing else particularly cool so I'll put my dad's 1930 Model A sedan. That was the first car I drove in our back yard when I was like 12. It was a stick so it was very tough to learn. I drove it a few times when I was older and it was fun to putz around in.

My 1970 442 W-30 Oldsmobile Convert. It was a two time National Champion and Concours d'elegence winner. These pics are scans of photos I took of it at the time I owned it. They don't do it justice. Deltron paint was just coming out onto the market. No digital cameras then.
