Default Gotta love the telephone...

Well, I took today off to get caught up on stuff around the house. So I decided I would answer all those anonymous phone calls that keep showing up on my caller ID everyday when I get home. I usually have 12-15 unknown callers by the time I get home from work at 4 in the afternoon. Then about another 6 before 9pm.

So far today I have already won 2 vacation getaways (one was only $99 per person for the trip, the other was free but required a 90 "seminar" to get the tix).

I have been offered a good discount on delivery of the local paper. They are trying to win back old customers. The funny thing is I let the last subscription lapse and probably owe them $50 from the last time I got the paper a few years ago. Yet they are offering the paper at a HUGE discount...still had to refuse... never did read it much.

I've answered at least 2 calls that were no responses. It'* like they were surprised when I actually answered so they quick hung up.

I had a call for a platinum credit card with an intro rate of %0. They were trying to tell me how good it would be to have their card. I explained to them how I finally paid of the cards I had before and since then have also been able to pay of my car before the final due date and get more in savings than they could offer me in a "pre -approved" credit limit.

I had another call from simondelivers.com. This one doesn't bother me at all since I actually do business with them. They just did a quick follow-up on some recent orders I had placed and received. The guy was friendly and straight to the point so I didn't mind the call.

Had another call asking for either MR. or Mrs. Jacques. Hrmm.... I love these since I am single and the sole owner of my house. They asked me about my loan rate I have on my mortgage. I recently refinanced my home at a great 30 year fixed rate. I told him what I got and abruptly said "thank you for your time....(click)"....LOL

So what kind of calls does everyone else get???

WIndow sales people...like weekly. I mean how many times does it take for one to say, No I don't need windows before it gets thru.

Its the best when its the same woman. I was like "Sweetheart...we talked last week. I know you like the sound of my voice, but I didn't need windows last week, I don't need em this week"

Gordy? did they misprounounce yer name...Ah yes..Mr or Mrs Jakes please"

I get a ton of calls about windows and siding. They all come durring the day though when I'm at work. I can tell what they are selling by the name of some of them on caller ID.

You sure YOU haven't been calling me??? I have heard about every possible pronunciation of my last name except the right one.... sec.. 'nother phone call...

HAHAHA.. ah good times...

Got a call from AT&T... again... just like the one I had a few hours ago. The best part was when she said " we now offer local service in your state of... umm... ahh.. Minnesota.". She had ne idea where I even was. Needless to say, I informed her that one of he associates had called today already. She apologized for the duplicate call and said she would put me on the "no longer need to call" list.

...sec..' nother call...

Ok, this time MCI called, but they didn't answer when I said hello. Not a good thing to do when you publich your company name and local contact number on caller ID.

This makes my call count for today at 12 so far (I double checked on caller ID (which must be the greatest weapon in the world when it comes to getting back at telemarketers)).

The BEST here at work, is when someone is sitting on the throne in the bathroom stalls and they have a call come in on their cell phone.

There is nothing more insanely humorous then listening to a big shot take a ca-catz and yak on the phone about the quantity of concrete to be poured in a room :?

I just automatically hang up when anyone pronounces our last name wrong...

I've gotten a call for a Gohmel, a Gomez, a Gummel, a Gammel....gotta love the German last names... It'* Gommel, pronounced Gah-mel

I hate to think how badly Kyle'* last name usually gets maimed...

There was a national "do not call" list that has been made. From what I hear they only need to check the list every 6 months so it may take up to 6 months to take full effect. And this only applies to for profit business. Charities and such can still call you all they want. One rumor (and only rumor so far) is that non-profit charities can obtain this list to call off of.

I hate telemarketer calls. One time my mom told the lady "I can't talk right now but if you give me your home number I will call you tonight and we can discuss it. " The lady got insulted and said " Ma'am I don't do business out of my home" and my mom said "Neither do I" and hung up on her. The woman got so mad that she called back and cussed at my mother. It was pretty funny!
