Computer problems... any help?>
Ok, I know there are a lot of smart people out there, so someone has got to know whats wrong here... we have two computers one running xp and the other running me. In the process of trying to create a home network the me computer seems not to want to start up anymore. It will start and run for about 5 seconds... then freeze up! :x Anyone know how to fix this, I really would like to set this network up... thanks and happy easter to everyone!

has anything changed on the WinME computer like settings or hardware? an if you can why not update it to WinXP also it might prove a bit easer for a home network

Ughh, ME
The Me cpu ran before the network was installed, right? What equipment are you using..? DSL or Cable? Cables or wireless? USB or Network Cards? Which one is the host computer? Only two computers, then probably you just want to do a workgroup. I hated ME, it would always freeze or mess up! |
I had just attempted to change the networking settings... and I wish I could update to xp but we are just going to use that computer for browsing the net so my dad sees no need to drop $100 to change to XP...

make sure your ip address on the non-host computer is the gateway number on the host computer.

hrm... well there is a problem there, I cannot even get the computer running long enough to load windows before it freezes...

Ok...
Start off with the basic, and make sure the Network cards are installed correctly by device manager. If so then name the XP computer, like tiger or pontiac, something like that, then add that to the ME machine. make sure all the numbers match up. what type of router are you using? where are you stuck at right now? |
