computer problem

well iwas playing warcraft 3 and out of now where it just restarts!! what happening here?

Ireli 02-15-2005 10:41 PM

Video Card (Arrrrrrrr! :x :x )

Custom88 02-15-2005 10:56 PM

it could be several different things. A few things come to mind
1. RAM is defective.
2. Temperature is too high inside case. processor overheated. Computer shuts down to prevent damage.
3. Power Supply was too hot, restarted for the same reason.
4. Video card became too hot.

Either way it was heat related. What kind of computer do you have and do you have any more specs on it?

I'd put my money on overheating. Warcraft 3 is pretty graphic intensive.

Does everything else run fine? (software)

its a compaq and i figured it was heat and i have a feeling its my video card but its been fine for a while even while playing unreal 2004 this is the first time in a long while. everything else works fine.

May as well have stopped right there. I hate Compaq's. When I ran my repair business, I was almost to the point of charging extra for them and HP's...

Go buy a fan (or two) chop a hole in the side of the case, and start sucking the hot air out of the case

I would suggest using the fan(s) for the sucking part, or you might get a little light headed..

did u install any new hardware recently.... it can cause that kind of stuff...

L27Buick 02-16-2005 04:36 PM

 sorry not laughing at you. I was reading this post when the same thing happened to me  I just transfered my dvd burner to my other computer and forgot to turn my fans back on. Doh! I have 5 fans on my main computer cause that's where i play World of Warcraft and it gets pretty hot.
