It seems I can't get enough of new things for my car. I guess I kind of enjoy change (when it comes to my car) and I bet you if I bought my dream car, I would be on the internet on some forum looking at mods for it.

So what I'm getting at is how mod crazy are the people here? Basically, the only things that hold me back are:
1) Money, and this is the main one.
2) Consistency, I take my time when I choose what I do because I don't want to break the "theme" of the car. I.E., a blue stereo with my red dash lights, or tinted rears and clear fronts. I don't want my car to look like I just bolted on a bunch of random parts, I want it to look like Pontiac designers decided to make a beautiful version of that car. Engine-wise, I want to keep performance and choose efficient mods that go well together. I enjoy a finely tuned car...

So, take the anonymous poll if you would, and reply to this and explain your logic for modding your car out.

I love making mods whenever I have the money to buy the stuff. Right now I am going insane because I wan't to install a CAI system on my car but don't have the funds. Why can't I win the lottery

I usually mod in a practical way that suits the main purpose of my vehicle. And as one part wears out I replace it with a superior version.

My Wrangler, for example, my workhorse (has performed many a impromptu "log skidder" duties while taking down trees around my property) and DD meant to get me where I need to go no matter what the hell gets in my way. So naturally traction, ground clearance and power are the priorities.

The Grand Cherokee is my wife'* DD for long comutes and our weekend tow rig to haul the Wrangler when we want to go on a 4 wheeling trip out of state. So road manners, and powertrain are the main targets for my modding her. Although not a whole lot of direct fit aftermarket support for what I am looking for right now.

and then there'* alway the looks factor, I too like to take my time to make sure that the overall appearance to my vehicle follow the same theme.

for me modding is an art really. I think modded vechiles are great. Do I think some have bad taste? most defenanitly but that is what they wanted to do and they have to live with it. with me it is kind of a "what was factory what wasn't" game when ppl look at my car. will they notice I have a Gen V instead of a Gen III ? most likely not but I will know. it is a matter of picking parts that complement each other. for example my interior is a tan color but has wood trim so what am I going to do to match it; 2 tone leather tan and brown. I guess what I am saying is it is your car and you can drive a cookie cutter car or you can make it scream I am ______ car. I really think the funniest thing is who do you see modding there cars the most is the military ppl because we have to dress a certain way and act a certain way but your car doesn't have to be "within regulations" it is your biggest form of expression

I think some people ( a few member here) do mods, just to say they have mods. I do things that enhance the appearance, driveability, or reliability.

I'm at a point where a lot of things i'd like to do involve paint and body/part work to get right. But it is a 14 year old car, so it might not necessarily be worthy $$ wise, and then i might just leave it be.

the only reason ive ever modded my cars is to give it what i think is missing...i cant on the new ssei yet though...well...because im broke...haha
