The Chatroom needs rules or changes

It was brought to my attention by someone that they told me something in confidense in the chat room, and that I then went and told someone else what it was. Well, I was never told the information to begin with. The issue arises that this information was "given" to me in the chat room.

It also seems lately that people in the chat room have been changing their names to be those that others use. In doing this, they seem to be tricking other members into thinking that they are the person who's screen name they have. This is wrong in my opinion, and while yes, the first day I found out about it, I did use another person's name briefly, I was on the phone with that person the whole time. lately it seems like something that might have gotten out of hand.

I would recommend that this feature either be changed, or the chat room be taken down. As for myself, I will not be in the chat room until a Admin has told me this issue has been resolved, so if you see JimmyFloyd in there, it is not me.

i agree there are some changes that need to be made....you need to use your BC user name.....or one that is identifible with other members...Geoff you are not the first to be the victim of false names...Willwren and myself have also had this happen....

i agree completely. i change my name often, however, i always use something that is based on my BC user name. I think it would definately be a good idea to have the nicknames locked to the user name of the member

why don't we just have a thing in the profile that gives our real BC name? So we can still change names but can also check to see who the person is.

I kind of enjoy being able to change my name amount the few stupid things I label myself as.

The Admins in the room can identify people by their email addresses, but normal room users cannot.

Let it be known.....use your BC username or something VERY similar. I'll permanently boot anyone I find out about that abuses other member's names in this manner.

If anyone knows of any violators, let me or one of the other room admins know.

Occasionally, I mess around with PJ or something by using her name, but only when shes there and Ive never gone too far with it

I do know a couple people who have done it in the past, but will not mention names unless I see it happen again. I would like to see the username locked to that which you sign up with if possible, or have to go through an Admin to get it changed.

You may be able to control yourself, but others see you doing it, and think they can too. It sets a standard or trend, and it gets out of hand.

The chatroom is a unique feature provided by the membership. Treat it as you would BC forums.

Abuse of the chatroom is similar to abuse of the forums and their will be consequences. Please do not mask yourselves as other members.
