I would say it should be fine. The '97 S10 I had came with the 4L60-E, and that was mated to a brutal, torquey 4.3, and had 155k on it, and had zero problems.

I have a 4l60e in my caprice wagon, with no major issues, 313K miles, never been touched, never been serviced, just a couple of bottles of lucas.

4L60E is a good trans. What'* it mated to in that car? 3800 delivers a lot less torque than an LS1.

Regardless, removing a RWD trans is ALWAYS easier than a FWD trans. If it does need to be replaced you should be able to have it out in 25% of the time it takes to pull one out of a FWD car.

Oh, I didn't even know that the 4L60e was mated to the LS1? Well, it'* a 3800, so does that change things???

I'm quite sure the 4L60E was mated to the LS1. Not 100% positive though.

I know for a fact it'* used with the traditional Vortec 350 and 305s. Those two engines deliver more torque than a 3800.
