T.E.A.M., Team of Destiny, Quixtar, Amway.... multi level marketing, pyrimids, scams....








Please help me.

I have a very good friend living with me right now. He is absolutely convinced that if he spends "$260" he will be able to go to some seminar and he will be a millionaire at the age of 34.....


If anyone has any opions on these companies, I am SERIOUSLY LOOKING FOR AS MANY REPLIES AS I CAN GET!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that these things are a rip-off, but he just will NOT take my advice. No matter how hard I try, he still remains convinced that he can be a millionaire and retire at the age of 34. As you can imagine, I DO NOT want to see a friend of mine waste money on stupid **** like this. I have already told him that if he goes to this seminar I will be severly pissed off, but still can't sway him..


People, please help me help him not waste his money..... he is only 20 yrs old and won't take my advice. He went to ONE free seminar and is now hooked and will NOT listen to me or anyone else I can think of.......

I know a few people who did the Quixtar thing. Wile I wouldn't call that particular one a scam. they certainly all have day jobs.
My grandfather had a step-daughter who did the Quixtar. For Christmas my grandfather gave us these catalogs full of stuff and you got to pick one. Everyone I know was very disappointed with what they got. The quality was not good.

If a quick million was there to be made, someone somewhere else already made it. He'* wasting his time and money on something that might yield positive results, but that would be less than likely to happen. I'm sure if you watch the commercial for it(I'm sure one exists) and people start talking about the hundreds of thousands, or even thousands of dollars they made, the fine print at the bottom of the screen WILL READ "Results not typical".

Former Amway member here. All I can say is that they are very convincing because there is truth and logic mixed into their messages (which are delivered by very charismatic people). Unfortunately, you can believe anyone if they are telling you exactly what you want to hear (to be rich).

We spent a lot of money going to seminars and so forth....but I can say this, it wasn't all bad. The self-help books I read during that time formed a lot of the confidence and character I have today. Even if you don't get rich, you can learn a lot about yourself, learn to set goals, gain confidence, etc....

It'* really not a hoax...someone is getting rich...it'* just not the average person who signs up. I made some good friends during those 2-3 years who were seriously rich. I wanted to be like them...they were ordinary people who were at the right place at the right time. But they were very charismatic.

I know you want to help your friend...but you cannot talk him out of this. He has to go, fall flat on his face, and only then will he realize the full truth and limitations of such programs. He has to make his own mistakes.

Now, if he'* using money that he should be paying you for rent or food or what not...then you do have a right to boot him. His desire for success by attending a seminar should NOT be at your expense.

Unless he is scraping pennies, and dipping into rent/food money that he needs to survive (or pay you rent) then he has no business doing this. But if not, it is his life, his decisions, and his mistake to make, not yours.

The whole reason that I am so against him doing this is because Stephanie and I moved him in here with us to help him out. He was in a VERY bad spot at the time and had gotten into some trouble with the law and was ready to just run. He lived in a very small town with zero opportunity and a mother that kicked him out every other week for stupid stuff. Long story short, We told him to come live here, we will help him get a car, and a job, and get everything to be better for him, no rent, just help out if needed and stay away from pot, which is why he got into trouble..... posession.

Anyway, he is a VERY good kid ( 20 yrs old ) and he is doing excelent. within two weeks of living here he had a job and is still working there 8 months later. He has also gotten a raise and moved a step up also, it is only a grocery store, but he doesn't ever call in, and stays clean

We are very very proud of him for doing so well, and we just mainly do not want to see all of his progress go down the drain.... No, him going to the seminar will not hurt me financially.

I do realize that it is not my decision and that he does need to make his own mistakes, I just don't want him to go hook, line, and sinker for this only to end up broke and worse off then he is now.

I was approached to do Quixtar and decided to opt out of it. I was not impressed with the products available and knew I'd have a hard time convincing someone to purchase them. The business model is legit however without a decent product line to go with, it gave no appeal to me.

Wow, I wish I would have had a freind like you when I was 20.
I understand where you ae comign from, but you probably will have to let him fail.

In the past my wife has gotten mixed up with several different MLM companies. All of them had to potential to make her some good money IF she put the time and energy into it. The concept is simple, so simple that a LOT of people get into it before realizing that they don't have the time to do what the higher up successful people did.

I finally put my foot down when she managed to max out 5 credit cards without my knowlege. :?
