Default 1993 Stock Vette vs SSEi?

My boss thinks his vette will still beat me at the track even though it is stock. I thought these cars were heavy and run high 14s with the automatic, plus they are RWD

What do you think...my car pullied and Jet Stage 2 vs untuned corvette with auto?

This page:

http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z...4/default.aspx

says 14.8 quarter mile with a 0-60 of 6.3 seconds.

his car right now takes at least 7 seconds to get to 60mph. Remember it is bone stock, orginal exhaust, old lazy sensors, plus lets just assume he cannot launch.

Don't be too sure about that. He might lose to a '93, but many of the late 70s and 80s Vettes were fairly slow. Many versions of the Corvette V8 were rated at the same peak horsepower as a stock L36, so an SSEi could definitely give some Vettes a run for their money.

I'm not sure why you think this.

RWD cars have a huge advantage over FWD cars when launching because of weight transfer. If anything he would launch better than you, and you would have to make up the difference once you got rolling off the line.

true, if you know how to drive but a lot of people do not and punch it too quick. lets assume that is the case.

Lol.... I still don't understand what you're saying!

If anything, a person who doesn't know how to drag race will have better luck launching a RWD car than a FWD car. Unless you're talking about pure experience levels, he has a distinct advantage over you. His weight transfer alone will allow him to get into the throttle sooner and more aggressively than you can in the Bonneville. The weight of his car is helping his grip, while the weight of your car is leaving the front tires and adversely affecting your grip. All other things being equal, the sheer nature of his RWD setup gives him the upper hand.

Still, I think it would be an interesting race. I have no idea what a '93 Vette weighs, but your supercharger will help to make up for the toque advantage of the V8. I think you would need a bit more than a pulley and Jet chip, though. Race him if you get a chance, and let us know. Just don't talk a big game before the race, because you'll most likely be digging yourself a hole
