Default nerve damage

well been out of work for like 6 months without much improvement to my right arm ( stack of cynder blocks fell on it and tore some tendons) we couldn't figure out why it was not healing..The doctor finally sent me for a nerve conduction study ( no fun at all) . the doc comes in and says we have good and bad news... the good ... we know why its not healing.. the bad ... severe nerve damage to my right arm and wrist they said at least 18 months to heal and more to strengthen... my heart hit the floor 18 months+ I am going to go insane with that much time off so they are sending me to an orthopedic specialist to see if there is surgery possible to speed things up... problem is the surgeries are only about 80% successful and when they are not you end up with a hand thats almost always numb and clawed fingers... the way my luck runs I am quite leary of the 20% that doesn't work but I cant be out of work for 2+ years I'm just not made for that anybody been through this or any opinions i'm kind of torn on what to do so as of now I'm just going to do whatever the doc recommends ( my doctor doesn't do these surgeries because of the risk factor hence why I have to see a "specialist") so for now I just wait to see what hes going to say... thanks just needed to vent :?

Been there, done that. A couple times. Go for surgery. Get it over with. Surgery is no big deal, and as long as there'* a chance, it'* worth it.

I have nerve damage and now wish I would have had surgery for it. Do the surgery.

id do surgery personally, because if you wait the 18 months or whatever you might just have to have surgery anyways(my grandfather did for his back)
