Budget Android Tablets

I am looking for more information on budget Android tablets, a perfect example being this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/FREE-SHIPPIN...item3a6add47e1

I currently have an Android phone (Sony Ericsson X10a, running custom rooted 2.3 with overclocking) and fall in love more and more every day. Yes, I understand there is a major difference between android 2.2 and 2.3, I don't have much experience with 2.2 myself in all honesty. I did run 2.1 for a while on the phone, before 2.3 came out for it. I am fine with it. I get the impression I would be buying something that my phone can outrun and outgun, but will still be able to do the same basic things, except on a 7" screen. Facebook, scrabble, photo slideshow, and basic web browsing. I also like customizing, including custom firmware, but if it runs decent enough, I could probably live without it.

The second point of concern is the price point. I am shooting for the $50-$75 range due to disposability. I plan on using this at work, and don't feel like losing or breaking an iPad or Galaxy tablet. My phone has Wifi teather, so no 3g necessary.

Thoughts, concerns, or suggestions based along these lines?

Nobody?

I've been kind of looking because I want to get one for my wife. Been looking at a few at Walmart. I would say a lot of memory and storage. 7" seems to be a good size. The 8" is a bit bigger but the ones I looked at have less memory. The 10" are much more expensive.

Okay, stumbled upon this:

Pricing is evenly paced with ebay, so I will probably check it out at least. Only major turn off is the resistive touchscreen.

Thinking of buying one and playing with it a few days, and if I don't like it, just returning it.

Yep, that's one of them I was looking at, but now she says she wants a tattoo.

I poked at this a few minutes while I was in Radioshack the other day.

This unit was absoultely infuriorating to use, and offensively slow. I was disqusted with it. I have read that firmware can be changed around to make it tolerable, but that is not why I would want to buy it.

I would want to buy something I can live with at worst, and then overhaul to make it scream.

The search continues. . .

The one you were looking at from walmart had some interesting reviews that make me think it doesn't get access to the full android market? Seems like it has its own app store or you have to use amazon or something. Just thought I would point that out. The good thing about walmart is they have a no questions asked returns policy.

Archos is a good budget brand. Just got to watch out for stuff like what Tommy said above. You would want the market access and all the normal Android features.

I work for verizon wireless and i love the tabs i have a motorola xoom and an Ipad. 50-75 dollars may get you something that works for a month maybe even 3 but after that it'll start bogging down and become a paper weight. I wish i could say there are good cheap options but I work with these things on a daily basis cheap is no way to go. You might want to consider $150-300 as a more realistic price point. you look hard enough you could possibly find a ipad 1 for $100 maybe if its is a used 16 gig. good luck if you have any qustions I hit me up. I am a sales rep so I do a ton of reasearch. if I were going to reccomend a tab for what you discribed as you useage requirements other than cost( cause its $399.99) I would recommend an asus transformer. Not sold by vzw but a good machine and a good buy none the less.
