Mandatory insurance verification? Anyone else have this?
Secretary of State mailed me a mandatory insurance verification to make sure I have liability insurance on my 83 Bonn. Back of the card says they suspend my license if I haven't replied in 30 days. I just got new plates for while she was out of storage during Decemberish. She'* back in now.
Of course, they want to know if I had liability insurance on Feb 11th...I put "no" and explained why. Now I get to be paranoid that they'll suspend it anyway because I don't have insurance on that one...only on my Lumina.
Has anyone else gotten one of these? :?

Not quite the same thing here but similar. Every time we renew our vehicle registration (usually annually), we must present proof of insurance or we don't get a new license plate sticker. I've never known a request here to be made by mail.

here in MI, you must have proof of insurance in order to renew or register a plate. so basically, they check once a year.
but there is a loop hole. they recently started (i think starting last year) letting you renew over their web site. and you dont need insurance info.

Ah, alrighty. Thanks all, that'* just the first I'd seen or heard of this. It'd make more sense to me if they checked it when I got registration...I even had my proof of insurance with me both times, but they didn't ask for it. I'm glad they do check things like this, their method just seems a little...odd.

here in MA you need to provide proof or insurance before registering the vehicle. you cant register without a document from the insurance company
