more laptop issues
so i was wrong in my previous thread about it not being the monitor. but the information in that thread isnt really relevant to this thread, so ill start a new one.
the screen finally went kaput on me last night (completely and irrevocably). so i went out and bought a new monitor from best buy. it was their display monitor so it has no box and no installation software. plugged it in and it works just fine.
but it has speakers. i cant get the speakers to work. plugged in an extra audio cable to the monitor (in addition to the VGA) and still nothing.
the speakers on the laptop are still handling all of the sound and id like to use the speakers on the monitor. anyone have any ideas? tried dling drivers for it and going to try again but i dont have much hope.
also it wont seem to do anything but stretch a normal screen size to widescreen. so all pics i see and all text is stretch a bit. i assume this is bc i have an old video card in my laptop. and there are no updated drivers for it, either.
any ideas? (yes i know youre tired of reading posts by me, im sorry)

got an ipod or something, try hooking that directly to the speakers to test them.
the stretching of the screen is directly related to your video card. If there isn't an updated driver, there isn't much you can do. I assume you toggled through all the Settings in the Display Properties already?

tried the suggestion. plugged in a zune and the speakers didnt work. and yeah, toggled the display settings and there wasnt anything to be done about it.
so i ordered one off newegg for $1.11 more [shipped/new], called best buy to see about returning it (given that i have no box and nothing else), and they said i have 14 days to return it.
so im hanging onto this one until my new one is shipped to me. then im returning this one.
