freecreditreport.com ain't free
I just checked my visa bill and found a 12.95 charge for freecreditreport.com. I specifically remember it saying credit card info would be used for verification purposes only. I had to call and cancel my "subscription" I'm a little miffed right now.

I don't blame you! I went through my states .gov page and they had a link for the real free credit check. We can check all 3 for free once per year.

I always just pay $40 for a complete report and rating score report from all three agencies. That gives me a bunch of extra info to use if there is anything on there that shouldn't be or that I can change to improve my score. You want to be as close to 800 as possible for the best rates on loans, mortgages, etc.
Plus, one of the agencies, which shall remain nameless *cough*equifax*cough*, keeps adding a middle initial to my name, and I don't have one! It'* frustrating and involves numerous letters, proof of being, etc.
