Resume Help
I was wondering if I could get some input from you guys about my resume. I've applied for over 15 jobs in the past month and haven't received very many calls at all after applying for positions. I figure it must be a problem with my resume. The job market in Michigan is absolutely horrible, but I didn't think I would have THIS much trouble finding a position. Most of the jobs I have applied for have been sales positions, customer service, or management positions at retail locations, stores, and restaurants. I have applied for all of my jobs through either www.monster.com or www.careerbuilder.com . Any constructive criticism is tremendously appreciated guys! The blurs are for more sensitive information.

I've always added personal interests to my resumes, and each time, its come up in the interview and we end up having a great conversation about my interests. Gives the employer something to talk to you about outside of work. Then again, you'd have to get the call.
Still...I'd add it.

Never used monster et.al., so I don't know if this applies...
Typically you should craft a one-sentence "Objective" tailored to each individual job you are applying to. This would go right between your contact info and the Education heading.

Getting tired of Dominoes Pizza? I used to work in retail when I was asst front end manager at CompUSA and man the customers can take it out of you. I know you are young but what about opening your own dominoes franchise some day?

If you are claiming knowledge or experience with specific products you should identify them correctly. For example, you have Windows Xp as opposed to Windows XP. Many points throughout your resume have a period at the end, many don't. While these may seem trivial, it shows a potential lack in writing skill and/or a decreased attention to detail. You have claimed both excellent communication skills and are attentive to detail. In some occupations these are both considered crutial.
When I reviewed resumes for potential candidates, a few other items that really turned me off an applicant included:
The inability to spell our company or contact name(*) correctly.
Spelling the name(*) of organizations they claimed membership with incorrectly.
Sending an application or resume to us with another company name listed.
Absence of a cover letter.
Long, difficult to read resumes. Highlights are important but indepth detail is for the interview.
Consistenly using "I" throughout.
When possible you should address your submission to a specific individual instead of "Attention: Human Resources" or "Attention: Hiring Manager". Taking the time to call and obtain a contact name shows a higher level of interest and initiative.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions everyone. I spoke too soon though! Just this week I have had five interviews scheduled. It'* crazy how I didn't get anything and now in the past week my calendar is absolutely full. Hopefully I get the one I want.
