Default Trade Re-nig

in 2004 a freind of the family wrecked and saved a 93 olds 98 that had the sc 3800. i conveyed interest in the engine, but never had enough money to buy it. nor enough space for the whole car(wish i did). he never had any luck selling the car or the eng. he ended up pulling the eng and junked the car.

he knew that i have an 88 thunderbird turbo coupe, that needs a head gasket. it has been in my moms garage, untouched for 6 years. so he called me one day and offered me a trade. he said he would give me the L67 and $500, for the turbo coupe. I agreed.

he said that i could come get the eng when ever i wanted, but he would need a little time to come up with the 500. i said, "thats fine. ill just give ya the title when you got the money."

well, i got the eng like feb or march of 06. i get a call just last week from him saying that he doesnt want the car. but he will have to work something out for the engine.

i just hope he doesnt try to give me some ridiculous price. cuz he said the sc alone was worth $600. i quickly informed him of a more realistic value of the M62.

what do you guys think the eng is worth? it supposedly had 130k miles. he admitted that he NEVER once changed the oil. so it was obviously not maintained. and when i went to change the sc oil, there was none! and the wiring harness was hacked, useless, and was srapped.

Best way to get an acurate price would be Car-part and look for the lowest. Being a questionable motor at best with the oil change situtation.

Heck.. locally I have been able to find S2 L67'* for $300-$800

Since you didn't state if he'* had the car all this time, he might actually still owe you the $500. Also from the sounds of it the t-bird may be in worse shape than it was while it was in your garage.

yeah, sorry that wasnt clear. the t-bird has been, and still is in my moms garage.

the only flaw that he would have to fix is the windshield. but that was already like that. i told him from that from day one.

when he first went to pick the car up, he said he didnt want invest money into the windshield. and didnt want to take the car.

i even said i would take 100 off to compensate toward the cost, but nope. no deal.

I've got a 94 SSEi motor with 68k on it. Complete with wiring harness and manifolds. This has the gen3 M62 on it. I've been asking $400 locally and $350 on the boards and no one (close) has showed interest right now.

I did buy a 93 motor for my 93 back almost 3 years ago with 28k on it and I only paid $400 for that one, MINUS the SC/TB/Fuel rail. again, that was 3 years ago and it was very low mileage and compression checked out.
