What'* boxing day? Our family was trying to pin that one this vacation, something was said on the radio, but they made everyone feel stupider.... Enlighten us USA peeps...

haha yeah I went up there a few weekends ago and saw signs for "Boxing Day". I was wondering what the heck it all was. My wife suggested maybe thats what you call the day before christmas. The day you box everything up, "Boxing Day". I thought "you crazy canadians" and continued my shopping. But when is it exactly?

Most of public services and industry in Canada give 3 stat holidays over the Holiday season. Christmas, Boxing Day and New Years day.
Boxing day is traditionally when you return all those clothes that doen't fit for an exchange and also when you box up everything for next year and clean up.
It'* been around for so long, I really didn't know that it wasn't a North American thing. :?

Boxing Day really has no meaning up here, other than big sales at places like electronics stores, clothing places, shoes, etc.
50% off a computer monitor? Digital camera? Wide screen TV? Best Buy and such had those kinds of sales. It'* December 26th. Our day before Christmas is still Christmas Eve
There were long lineups to get into stores, I had to wait about 15-20 minutes to get into my local Best Buy here. Dad snapped up a pair of Motorola FRS radios for $50, regular price was $100. Parking wasn't fun either, with the big SSE getting around modern tight parking lots. Didn't take long to get a spot though, luck.
Boxing Day can be pure madness, folks.
