Auto-Tell-Me-In-The-House-When-Her-SES-Is-On device?

So, I went to move the gf's Deville and noticed the SES on. I scanned it and it's TPS anyway, But when I asked her how long it had been on, She didn't know wtf it was. I literally had to point it out. Apparently it's been on for a while. This raises the question, I wonder if I can build something to relay the SES into the house.

I was thinking of something like this; Inside the house is a R/C transmitter transmitting all the time. In the car is the matching receiver. When the cars' receiver gets a command it applys power to a transmitter mounted in the car on a different channel. This car transmitter will transmit only when the optoisolater sensor circuit triggers a transistor. The house then has a receiver on the cars' transmitting frequency that turns on a light.

Therefore, When the car is in range of the house the transmitter in it is turned on and if the SES is on it transmits to the house which lights me up a bulb. Obviously this raises the problem of antenna mounting, But I assume the trunk lid edges would work fine.

Thoguhts? Comments?

heh, all I can say is GOOD LUCK!

Wouldn't it make more sense to place the trransmiter in the car and have it get turned on by the SES? You could even use one of those wireless doorbells; trigger the outside doorbell via SES (you'll need to jumper in some extra components to replace the pushbutton obviously) and then in the house the remote doorbell will go off if the SES is on. Personally I'd connect the remote doorbell to a light instead, one that says "Wife needs servicing" or somesuch :)

My question is, how to you plan to account for the bulb check at startup?

Right, But I don't want it just transmitting at some random freq. all over town, if it just interferres with ground freqs in my immediate area I can stand that.

HouseTX -> CarRX ~ (SES light) ~ CarTX -> House RX ~ (HouseLight)

Ahh, method to your madness...
It could triggered to only send while in park easy enough.

Yeah, But what if the proverbial kid next doors' dad is a rf enthusiast who sniffs the interferance in his kids' rc truck to the car. I doubt that would be a polite discussion.

Definatly have to make sure I'm not just throwing out rf all the time.

or you could wander out to the car once in awhile

I like the idea though, kind of a "i'm sick heal me" signal

I don't think a sigla is really needed for this one...........
