Appears official: Germanwings plane crashed by pilot
 

Just off the wires: the co-pilot of the crashed Germanwings flight intentionally crashed the plane into the French Alps. Motivation not yet published.

The Germanwings flight is a complete tragedy.
As the story unfolds, the co-pilot had issues with the company & unreported psychological issues.
Further pilot screening and medical investigations, should be addressed.

We had a Air Canada plane slam onto the runway during a blizzard in Halifax NS yesterday.

Apparently he hit a power line near side the runway, taking out all the power to the airport. Be interesting to hear if he even had the right ILS approach dialed in.
One passenger onboard believed there was no landing gear (ripped off by the power line)
and they slid the entire length of the runway and then some.
Those folks onboard should buy some lottery tickets! They are so lucky!

The Airbus 320 is having a bad 6 months, three notable accidents in under six months, two producing mass fatalities.

Seems the Air Canada flight was seconds from no issues or seconds from disaster. Funny how a few inches can make a life or death difference when it comes to airplanes.

I thought the autopilot and landing technology took bad weather out of play. In the AC case- I guess not.

What's next? TSA in the cockpit to make sure no one decides to crash a plane?
