Default Flying Deer

Well anyway, I was driving down a dark country road in rural south east Connecticut when a deer came flying out of nowhere. I had absolutely no reaction time. The nose & hood of my car made impact while the deer was in flight traveling from right to left across the front of the car. I altered the deers course slightly, it bounced off the hood & front bumper cover of the car, then turned end over end and landed five feet in front of the car, I had stopped by this time. The deer made it back on to its feet & scurried off into the darkness on the other side of the road. This whole thing went down in not more than 5 seconds and it was all over. I got out of the car to do a pre-cursory inspection, it didn't look too bad. I pulled into a ShopRite parking lot where there is ample lighting for a closer inspection, the right front headlight is trashed & the bumper cover is pushed in. The hood now overlaps the front bumper on the right side (that'* where most of the force of impact took place). It looks like the sub frame behind the front cover & just forward of the condensor/radiator is caved in slightly causing the hood mis-alignment. I just had all the collision work (when I was rear ended in June) which included front & rear bumper covers replaced in July with related body work & paint. It'* been a rough year trying to keep this thing looking nice. Well, at least it looked good for the photo shoot Sunday at NEBF 05.

You jinxed me!! Well, almost anyways.

The route I take to work weaves in and out of a bunch of parks. Rounding a corner this morning, I came this close to hitting a pretty good sized doe. Almost made me make a poopie!!

Sounds like yours should be back to new in no time, tho! Good luck with it!!!
