yeah, no kidding. I'm going to cruise by there and see what's left on the lot tomorrow. THinking of getting the Red Hot Alero for a winter car...

And there were people saying that the flames on this were blue, orange and white in some spots. And it was started cause one of the mechanics was removing a gas tank strap with a torch. They also heat it with used oil and such, so that didn't help any either. I believe it took about 2 hours to fully contain.

I believe there's also a mechanic looking for a job and an attorney.

No bonnevilles. He does mostly smaller foreign (VW is big) and small GM cars like the cavi, alero and grand am. I know he used to have a line of old VW vans and bugs to the side and back of the garage.

They said that 42 cars were destroyed in the blaze.

JimmyFloyd 10-03-2007 09:34 AM

ok, so I may have been wrong....

The fire started while mechanic Eric Dingler was removing the gas tank of a 1996 Pontiac Bonneville. Dingler used an acetylene torch to cut a bolt holding the tank onto the car, then put the torch out of harm's way, said Cameron, who was also working in the shop. When the tank came off, it removed a gas line, spilling gasoline on the floor. The gasoline came into contact with the still-hot bolt, igniting the gas.
and for those Curse people...

A formerly blue Pontiac, still up on a lift Tuesday, was charred beyond recognition. Alongside it were several all-but-unrecognizable shells of vehicles, including a classic Volkswagen pickup truck and a 1966 VW Beetle.
