Default Calling all Connecticut residents!

There'* a lot more to this world than Bonnevilles (gasp!). I figured I'd post this here and see if anyone'* interested.

Basically, student organizations from several state high schools and colleges are trying to get the state of Connecticut to uphold workers' rights with Senate bill SB1148. Maybe you've heard about us on the news or in the papers. Anyway, read on for more information.

We really need the public'* support to get this bill raised for discussion on the House floor. If it'* not raised, the Senate will adjourn and the bill will die. So help us out and show up if you can, or just tell your state representative(*) that you're in support of this bill. There'* an email address below where you can get more information. She'* the biggest supporter of this campaign, so she'* the one to go to for answers. Read on!

Please forward this message to EVERYONE you know in CT. Thank You!!!

Your final chance to join the statewide movement against sweatshops...

RALLY FOR GLOBAL WORKERS' RIGHTS!!!

Wednesday, May 25
10:15am
The Legislative Office Building, Hartford

(we will meet in the lobby at 10:15am)

The CT legislature is now considering a law that would make it illegal for the state government and all CT public universities to purchase apparel made in sweatshops. This bill follows the precendent set by states, cities, and universities across the U.*. However, because this bill would ensure that the factories we purchase from are independently monitored, this would be the first truly enforceable statewide anti-sweathop policy in the country!!!

A week and a half before the legislative session ends, we will unite as CT citizens who oppose the vile and inhumane worker abuses of sweatshops. This is our final and most crucial chance to send the message to the Speaker of the House and all other members of the CT legislature that they must raise and pass this very important bill for global workers' rights!!!

As a friend of yours and of workers worldwide, I sincerely ask you to please join this incredibly important movement for workers' rights and to attend this crucial event.

And please help me to spread the word.

Thank you so much!!!
In solidarity, Kath Golub <katjecita@yahoo.com>

Also, if you have not yet done so, please take two minutes right now to let your legislators know that you oppose sweatshops and support this exciting legislation!!!

Go to http://www.unionvoice.org/campaign/C...wgiw332z7bixi6 and act now! (You may have to cut and paste into a browser for the link to work)
