I just realized how lucky I am.
I went through a few years of monetary challenges, and I think I'm just now realizing all the horrible things I did to my vehicles, and the dire consequences they should have had.
'03...Water pump in the Bonn went bad. I took too long to replace it. I'm told that it should have sent the fan through the radiator, but I got lucky.
'04...running on bald tires, after having had mine last less than 30,000 miles. There was literally no visible tread by the time I replaced 'em. Shoulda blown a tire and lost control. I got lucky.
'05...Bald tires AGAIN...same issue with the no tread and the 30,000 miles.
Also, my wonderful fiance finally replaced the shocks so I could say goodbye to this issue...and discovered that I had an entire coil broken off of my rear coil springs. The rest of the broken spring was riding on the axle. Had it slipped off, the tire would have hit the wheel well and caused a spinout. I got lucky.
On top of that, I got my truck. I got temporary plates the next day, and took it for a drive. It started SMOKING. My radiator had blown, the coolant had hit the fan, and it had sprayed ALL over the engine. I got to a local farm store and replaced some hoses. I drove it home as is, even though I noticed more smoking. After taking off the plastic fan cover, we found a BADLY blown radiator. I probably should have blown my engine up...but you guessed it, I got lucky!
Further investigation also revealed worn hoses, a bad water pump, a bad thermostat, and evidence of that horrible, horrible radiator stop leak powder that probably caused the whole effin' problem.
I ran the thing outta oil once. Got lucky again. (the thing drinks oil like Bill drinks beer.)
So...yeah. I'm not sure I should own vehicles...but other than all that, they're babied... :?

Woo Hoo.
I had a dream that I won 10K on a scratch off at the DC car show last Sunday. The DC Lotto has a booth there at the show. Bought 2 $5.00 tickets and did not win squat. However there is a second chance drawing for a car so I might get lucky yet.

I wouldnt consider that bad treatment at all. Maybe a little neglect, but that is not anything serious at all when comparing to the rest of the people out there.

That isn't bad treatment... the Bonne I just bought has had bad treatment... hasn't been cleaned in probably 2-3 years, hasn't had an engine and tranny oil change in almost 5 years, the rad fans were jerry-rigged to the point where they didn't work at all (The 2 speed fan was blow because of the jerry-rigging), simply because the rad fan switch had blown, and the carpet and headliner are so bad filthy that they both need replacing.... This car is lucky that it got me as its owner.. LOL
But that doesn't change the fact that you are lucky...

i've gotten lucky a few times. The transmission on my 93 copmletely locked up and the car came to a HALT in the middle of the road! The lucky part was that I was a block from my house and only going about 10 mph.
One time my altenator went on one of my cars. After waiting an hour for aaa to come, i was able to start the car and drive off. Didn't know about alternators recharging the battery one more time. So the car dies next to a tow truck! The same tow truck driver that was on his way to get me, but he had to help this guy first.
