would you keep the trans? if you dont, you could fix up a go-kart engine for less money. it would way less to. check out http://4cycle.com . without the trans, it would go no faster than its redline, so a regular kart engine would be fine.

Engine is too big, too heavy, IMO.

I am into racing go-karts that are designed for that purpose. We use small Honda engines ( 6.5 ) for the class I am in.

As for the go-kart you wanna build it sounds more like an off road one.

just something to run around in. I live deep in the country, so I might use it on the roads out here, but it would be strictly "off road" rated. My idea was to use the existing manual trans, but mount the engine on the back of the car and make it a rear engine rear wheel drive setup. The AC, power steering and all that nice stuff can be deleted. The alt could probably get an underdrive pulley due to no lights or other equipment.

I already have the engine and trans, but the honda is crap (mice live there now). I thought with a little adjustment it might work. As to the weight issue I could use a sprocket-chain system to transfer the power to the back wheels and put the engine more in the middle. We have welding equipment so I can do the frame to meet what I need.

you could also try http://maxtorque.com, because they make torque converters and clutches for go-karts. i have one on my off road kart. i have seen a kart with a four cylinder engine before...it was awesome!

Those motors (as in 6.5hp?) would be a LOT smaller than a 2.0 Accord motor
