Pennzoil / Quaker State Poll
Hey Guys, I want to hear your thoughts and experiences using these oils. I want to know the good, the bad, and the ugly. Don't hold anything back. Give me the full lowdown.

They are two of the most inexpensive oils out there.
Your oil was refined by the lowest bidder. You get what you pay for.
Frankly, I'm ashamed that a fellow CA-native would even ask such a quesion.

Well, which is the lesser of two evils:
Quaker State pulled its corperate office out of my hometown about a decade ago, taking a good portion of jobs with it,
OR
Pennzoil, who shut down the refinery a few years later, sending the production to Shreveport LA, which sent our town into a larger economic tailspin.
So all in all, go with Valvoline.

I supn the main bearings on Quaker State, a long time ago.
Never used Pennzoil so i cannot comment.
I have used Valvoline in a number of engines and have never had a problem.
I use Mobile 1 and have not had any problems.
I use Red Line and have not had any problems.

I was talking to a retired engineer from GM several months back, who helped design their engines. He told me of oil tests that they ran. Pennzoil came out on the bottom, Quaker State just above it. So, if you're going to go for the bottom, may as well go with the better of the worst - Quaker State. Personally, I'd never use either. Valvoline has been my choice, also.
