Is anyone else here a big fan of the Half LIfe 2 game for the PC? Have you tried the "Lost Coast" demo/pre-release for the "aftermath?" What did you think of their HDR lighting? The game really does look nice on high settings! 8) I can't wait for the full expansion pack to come out.
The minimum recommended system requirements are as follows:
1. 2.9 GHZ P4 OR 2.2 GHZ AMD processor
2. 1 GB of memory
3. Nvidia 6800 or higher video card, or Radeon 9800 or higher.

Some screen shots I took along the way..

in all, the demo only took me 25 minutes to beat, it's not very long at all!

I actually played that demo this weekend. It barely ran on my PC, I had to crank all the detail down to low.

AMD 2500+
GeForce4 4800
1gig DDR-400

It was cool though. I love that game.

it barely ran on mine too. I left all the settings on high, but turned off the new and hyped "HRD" effects. (the life-like lighting effects. it's really cool looking, but slowed my computer down to a crawl in bright areas of the game.) Once I turned that off though the game played completely fine with no speed problems at all. I just wish my specs were high enough to use the HRD effect, it's really cool looking.

AMD 2800+
GeForce 6800 LE
1 gig ram. I found it funny how I was thinking my computer was decent, but it's exactly even with their "minimum" requirements.

I tried it on the comp of my friend, he just bought:

AMD 3500+
2 gig dual DDR
6600 extreme Nvidia 256 mo
run pretty good at max setting, love that lights effect!.

I just played it today and thought it was cool but couldn't do anything with the HDR bc ive got a 5200 :( My whole comp is outdated darn it!

Playing that demo made me realize how old my computer is. It's like 2.5 years old. I don't play many games anymore thankfully, or else I'd have to upgrade.

I've got HL2. I can't tell you how many times I've jumped because I turn around and a headcrab or antlion is IN MY FACE :bdoor:

Wow, those screenshots look SICK! It's neat to see how good the graphics can be on a powerful system. They sure made some beautiful visuals to for that game.

Masterbm 11-01-2005 11:12 AM

I think I like unreal little better but the graphics are better in hl2. I can wait for the new starswars game. I am diffenetly goign to have to have lan party with that game
