Any Competive shooters on here?

I shoot Navy National Match courses and I need some input on a the pistol I'm putting together.. 1st thing is I just don't care for a 1911- it is a good pistol- I just don't like it. SO
I've been useing a Police turn-in (used cop gun) 92F (not FS) with Tricon sights and it's done good. It's a good carry/defence pistol so I did not want to f-with it. I haven't broken 200 out of 300 match yet but it's me as much as the gun. One other note for those who don't know these matches it's all single handed! @50 and 25 yards!
So I fell into a deal for a used >2000 rds (he kept a log) 92FS with 4 mags for $350. EXE cond. I plan giving it the full treatment.

Barrel bushings are allowed but not the slide bushing as shown in the art.

SO finally what I'm asking is anyone done this on here? How'ed it work out for you?

Has the basics. But the trigger has to be 4# min. :2guns:

I also got to get the funding for a Rock River Arms NM AR-15 someday.

cant help you much but i fire a Wyoming Arms Parker 10MM with adjustable sighting. I love it. It's built off the 1911.

I've never shot competitively, and I don't have much experience with 9mm, I really don't like the round. I mostly shoot with my Dad's pistols and his old Ruger .357 is a great weapon for accuracy, at least until it pounds your wrists numb. We also have an antique S&W .38 5" barrel, an old Sauer .32, a Colt 1911 service pistol that was issued to my Grandfather in WW2, and another .32 that I'm not exactly sure WHO made it, it's older, but it's a piece of crap.
We also have an old Winchester side-by-side 20-guage, a newer Remington pump 20-guage, a Ruger .22 single shot, and a Ruger .30-06.

Out of all of them, I'm probably the best with the side-by-side, skeet don't stand a chance around me!

BTW, Rosco, why don't you like the 1911?

The Baretta 92 is pretty dang accurate stock, and the only one I've fired was owned by the Army. It's pretty nice, but I preferred my 45.

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about modifying them....
