Antec computer power supply
I just got my new antec power supply 400watt so that I could hook up my new Nvidia 6800 video card. I also installed a new CPU fan and new case fan. My question is that the Antec power supply pulls in air from outside and blows it into the case. Isn't the opposite of what it should be? I read reviews and others have had the same problem. Any idea why they'd design it to do that?
this is the PSU http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...103-912&depa=0 |
I have the truepower 380 and it does the same thing ... my guess is that they are assuming most people have an exhause fan right below it (on the back of the case) so it makes a circular path for air

That sounds just totally wrong. Do they have a tech contact? Or, are you brave enough to reverse the fans yourself? Might be as easy as unscrewing, flipping, and rescrewing

Mine is exhaust, and always has been. If I have any imperfections in the air stream, I have a vacuum created, and trust me, once you have a vacuum, you will know it for sure. My CPU temp rises like no tomorrow, and all the fans sound wierd.. it's crazy. But anyways.. Antec is an awesome PSU manufacturer, and I have had zero problems with mine. I too have the 400watt unit.

my ambient case temperature (as reported by my video card) is 44 degrees. Sounds kinda high to me.. Before the changes it was over 50 so it's better than it was before.

That's a great temp. With my seriously overclocked CPU, I see about 50-55*C. Anything below 60*C is perfect. I do not know what that is in F, because SAE measurements are for losers. Metric is the way of the future ;).
