AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!! Stupid, stupid, stupid!!!
To call one of my friends car illiterate would be the understatement of the year. He's had four cars in the last year and a half...
Car 1: late 80s Oldsmobile. Looked like crap, but ran well. He actually ended up PAYING the junkyard to take it, just to get rid of it. PERFECT...RUNNING...ORDER, with the 3800 in it! I went to go take it off their hands, but they sold it less than 2 hours after it came in.
Car 2: 2003 Hyundai Elantra. Now totalled, not replaced because he had let his insurance lapse...I think he's still paying the loan on it. Had to teach him the importance of oil changes, checking fluid levels, checking tire pressure...and then show him HOW. He also called me once late at night because he noticed one of his guages was going up and down as he was driving. That guage was his tachometer... He also noticed a funny ticking one night. He had let it run out of oil. This was when he didn't understand why it was a bad idea to drive it with low oil.
Car 3: 93 Ford Escort. LOW miles. Thermostat went bad and got stuck closed. I told him to QUIT DRIVING IT and get a $15 thermostat. I would have even put it in for him. He drove it anyway, blew the motor.
Car 4: 90something Cavalier. He called me to say that the brakes are acting funny. Anyone else hear a death march?
Thank you for letting me vent! :) I'm starting to dread picking up the phone when he calls.
