And apparently part of the video message said the act "was a warning as to what will happen if the government refuses the demands in OUR country"... huh? Those al-Quaida morons don't even HAVE a country! Not only are their terrorist acts senseless, but their logic is too. If there is any redeeming news from another tragic death, the news reported that the ring leader in that latest video was possibly killed in a subsequent shootout with authorities. :?

You know, I agree that we need to do something drastic and I wouldn't mind seeing a few Al-Quaida heads roll, myself.
But, Burgundy, your remark about "showing those damn liberals" what'* happening is way off base.
I happen to BE a liberal, and I know damn good and well what'* going on over there.
I know that this war will end up being worse than Vietnam.
I know that guys in uniform stand out like sore thumbs, compared to ambushers in civvies
I know that using armored vehicles that CANNOT WITHSTAND A SINGLE RPG HIT as convoy escorts is really friggin' stupid, they should have M1'*, not vulnerable Hummers and Strikers.
I know that we are not going to "Win" the war in Iraq, we're just going to pass the problem to Iraqi security forces, who have absolutely no chance of even controlling the situation, and will get slaughtered worse than our boys are now.
The war in Iraq was an unnecessary expenditure of lives, tax-dollars, and valuable time.
Despite Bush'* insistence that Saddam had links to Al-Quaida, no evidence of such has ever come to light, much like the WMD theory.
Saddam did NOT sponsor terrorists, terrorists didn't like him much better than they liked us. There have NEVER been training camps in Iraq, and before Bush sent our boys in, it'* doubtful there was even terrorist-linked activity anywhere in Iraq.

Now, please don't take it that I want us to pull out of Iraq, but unless Bush(or Kerry once he is elected) is willing to throw a lot more resources into this war, WE WILL LOSE.
We will pull out with the terrorist cells that are now in place still strong, we will NOT accomplish Bush'* avowed goal of a stable government in Iraq, and the area will suffer civil wars for decades.

My own personal solution to the beheadings? Find the bastards responsible, DO NOT ARREST THEM, OR IN ANY WAY ALLOW THEM TO SURRENDER, just find them.
And drop a Daisy-Cutter on their a$$es. Screw collateral damage. The people in these countries KNOW exactly who is doing this, and must have a pretty good idea where they are, and if they want to shelter them, they should expect to have 25,000lbs of high-explosive dropped where-ever we find the criminals even if it'* in the middle of a major city.

Please, don't make broad statements about "Liberals", remember that there are just as many Republicans speaking out against the war, and for reasons not as well reasoned as mine.

Oh, BTW, I have seen the Nick Berg tape, and I think Gen. Pershing'* idea was a damn good one...

The problem with the fact that these beheadings are taking place in Saudi Arabia is the fact that (correct me if I'm wrong), the Saudi are somewhat allies, aren't they? We can't just bomb the heck out of a country which we are supposed to be aligned with--which is most likely why this is taking place there.
