Thanks for the move :) sorrry i was soo excited/mad :)
|
I saw one at the auto show. Meh....
|
I like it. I wish it was RWD though.
It doesn't have the 5.7 LS2. It has the LS4 engine. |

I am not all that thrilled about the LS4 5.3 stuffed into GMs Chevy, Buick, and Pontiac FWD cars; this is a recipe for transmission and maintenance disaster. Personally, I like the SC 3.8 a lot; it is economical but packs a pretty good punch. It is easy to work on, lasts forever, and easy to mod. The GP GXP nor any of GMs FWD cars will compete with the 300 series from Daimler Chrysler. Hopefully, GM will figure that out pretty soon. I wished that GM would have combined the 3.8 cars into one offering from each division with an updated version of the SC 3.8; and followed through with their Zeta plans and build a flagship RWD/AWD V8 sedan with the LSx engines. Oh well, we can dream. |
Maybe they'll look better in person, but from those pictures I don't like the front end. The lower plastic grill looks fugly, and cheap.

FWD and 44000 46000 bucks WTF ill just get a caddy CTS-V, who would buy such a car, im tired of GM and all of their bullsh**. They kill the bonne, which is the flagship, then the go and put and LS4 mated to a crappy automatic with auto stick (LAMO)horizontaly opossed into a "needs to be redesignd" grand prick, and then have the nerve to chage 45000......lol im sorry but that just stupid, i love pontiac and GM but this is just stupidity, bunch of Fing morons,........
one more thing, WHAT IS UP WITH THAT HIDDIOUS VAN ABOMINATION THAT IS BEING PLATFORM WHORED ALL OVER GM, (saturn relay, buick blah blah, pontiac montana SVsucks, and the chevy uplander) TOyota is now the the #2 auto maker, if GM doesnt pull its pants up and stop makeing retard, whored out, crackerbox, alphanumeric named pices of crap, then the rice crap will take over.....and will be forced to drive things like the Honda Rimjob and that toyota pontiac joint venture the stupid vibe........who does that impress NO ONE ITS A DAMN TOYOTA THAT USEES THE VVTI 4 CYLENDER.....WTF IM SO PISSED AT GM AND PONTIAC.......DOEST ANYONE HAVE ANY BALLS OVER THERE.......OR DO WE JUST KEEP ON GETTING SHI* RAMMED DOWN OUR NECKS, AND THE PONTICA FLAGSHIP SCREWED OVER BUY SOME BUICK LUCERNE<-----------WHO CAN PRONUNCE THAT ANYWAY, EXCEPT SOME FRENCHY WHINER....... NICKYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY  |

  |
i know, that, but why does GM produce cars that are similar in price but totally difrent in capability. a 45000 grand prix is a joke unless it as AWD or RWD and a LS4, or something comprible, it jst makes me steaming mad when Gm eliminates modles to produce others that will do even worse........
|
I agree that price is way to high. You can get a Vette for around that.
Some kind of mistake perhaps? |
Well folks, there's no use getting angry over these kinds of things. We've got to be farsighted enough to know that the General will eventually jump on the RWD bandwagon. It seems they'd rather go to the school of hard knocks than make the switch right away, but they'll figure it out soon enough. Just be patient and wait a few more years.... you'll see. In the meantime we can sit back and watch another GM idea die out while continuing to mod and drive our good old 3800s. Just because GM makes a change doesn't mean we have to change as people. Our loudest voice is our money, and if GM doesn't see any money generated by the GXP it will change directions. We should realize instead that our dollars are better spent in the 3800 aftermarket. Heck, if you throw $8000-$10000 dollars at your Bonneville to do a major overhaul, you'll have a like-new car that you know and love for another decade. In my mind that beats buying anything on the market today.

They can't just make the GP rwd overnight. When it's redone in a few years (G8 probably) it'll be rwd then. This is a last hurrah if you will on the FWD W body platform.
Price will start just under $30k. |
That article is from Nov. 12, 2004 ... is it still accurate? I just heard on the news last week that GM pulled plans to put V8's in several of their 2006+ sedans. Maybe due to the current oil prices, I'm not sure.... :?:

44000... aren't those CDN $$$'s? that website references GM Canada a few times...
underneath it's still a circa '97 GP design, correct? |

... It's a Canadian pricing. A Bonneville GXP is $46k over here, I could list many comparably priced cars that are generally regarded to be above the Bonneville's league. Not to mention, you're paying $46k for a Sunfire interior. |

not to sound overly mean or anything but I really doubt GM could care less what we think they should do. Most of the people on this forum don't buy a GM car brand new meaning that it doesn't matter if we like it or not because we're not going to buy their brand new cars anyways. The people that do buy brand new usually aren't on these forums because they're *ahem* older usually. Not saying we all drive older cars and buy used, but the vast majority of us do.

respinS, Good call on the interior. Heck the Sunfire might even be better in some ways. |
Like I said before, they'll figure it out soon enough. Ford and Mopar are in on the RWD/AWD sedan thing; it's only a matter of time before GM follows suit.

I actually barely noticed that too  BUT IT WILL STILL BE A $30,000+ CAR. thats the sad part. ALSO.... To cope with the additional power and torque from Pontiac's new V8, the domestic brand has employed a strengthened version of GM's trusty Hydra-Matic 4T65-E four-speed automatic gearbox. Although it shifts smoothly, and comes equipped with TapShift 'manu-matic' functionality, the transmission seems a little outclassed in this day and age of 5- and 6-speed automatic gearboxes. ROFL!!!!   |
And on that note, you can get yourself into an Infiniti G35 for less than $30k US...
