11 years gone

Well, today the aution comapny came and picked up my parents 89' Grand Marquis of which we had since 93'. My parents brought me to elementary school everyday in this car. Heck, I don't think my garage has not had that car in it for less than a day since the house was a year old! Its been though everything: my dad's temper, off roading, being thrown into reverse @ 30mph, having a mall sky window fall on it, bad hail damage, and oh yea its the first car I dove and I learned how to drive in it. Yet it persists on running like new. The reason he gave it away was body degradation due to rust and the glass from the mall that fell on it scratched the paint causing rust. This car used to be mint with crome everywhere but within the past year the crome has fallen off. At 245,000 miles it is in its prime running condition, due to weight loss from rust. Seriously I think it runs better now than when it had 39,000 miles on it.

Its going to feel strange not having it around for awhile, almost like loosing part of the family. :( Then again its just a car. Sheet metal, rubbar, oil, and gasoline.

I know how you feel...Same thing when I sold my first truck, that my dad bought brand new off the show floor in 79, 80 model year, sold it in 02 after we graduated.....For a few weeks I'd drive past it in Rosemount....and squirt a tear...wish I still had it....Great lil truck...But she's still around!

You know I still don't know you're name Lakeville. Its kinda strange having 3 people from the same class of the same high school belonging to a international club of what? 3500 members?

I feel the same about my 1983 Olds Regency 98.

I feel your pain. We lost our GN to body problems back in '94.
