Angry I need legal advise! Involves my old 1993 custom!! Please help

Ok here is the deal.. About a year ago i recieved a DUI. My lisence was taken. So i traded my 1993 Bonneville SE to my "dad" for his 2001 Yamaha Raptor 660R. He never went to Secretary Of State to switch the title into his name. After the transaction, The car was witnessed pulling into my apartment complex by a local cop(all the cops intown know everything about me... My vehicles, where i live, where i worked, who i was dating, ect, ect) It was 4am. My car pulled into my apartment complex and my dad walked inside. I cop said he was positive it was me not my dad. The cop didnt stop the car or the driver because he was running the plates.
Everyone knew it wasnt me driving because i never drove the car after i got rid of it. I went to court, with the bill of sale, and plead my case. My dad was supposed to come and confess that it was him. BUT he didnt show. I was found guilty and almost went to jail. I ended up paying almost $600 in fines.

My dad was pulled over in the car about 6 months ago. He was taken to jail for not sure what, and the car was impounded. I recieved a Notice of Abandoned Vehicle in the mail yesterday because the car is still in my name, so i am responsible for it. I called Clinton County Sherriffs Offic, Clinton County Courts, Secritary of State, and Northside Towing Co. And ive gotton pretty much the same responce from all. Title is in my name I am responsible. The bill for Storage Fees is over $3000.

I almost lost my apartment when i had to pay almost $600 for the last thing my dad stuck me with. He is a piece of **** and i tired of this. My girlfriend and I want to live our lives! I want him and these issues out of our lives.

I still have a copy of the bill of sales. So hopefully there will be a court date that i can prove i got rid of this car.

Its sad that i have bought and sold countless things and the only problem ive ever had is with my own father. He has also pawned off my shotgun and other things.

He was a descent guy with a house that he had built, made about $80,000 a year. nice vehicles, married to a State Police employee... then he got into cocaine. He lost the house, blew the motor in his 2007 F150 (which he paid cash for), lost his wife. And now just screws over anyone he can.

Just tired of this. I live a good life these days and want this negativity GONE.

Any advise?

I would say that you need to hire an attorney to get it all cleared up. Not sure of the laws in your state but here in Washington when you sell a vehicle you as the registered owner also need to report the sale to the state, and the person who bought the car needs to transfer the title.

As far as Dad goes....move, change your phone number and don't let him know where you are.

Sounds like a screwy situation, hopefully you can work things out and put it in the past.

Man this really sucks. I don't know what to tell you....I'm only 13. I'll just tell you what i recommend.

As far as Dad goes....move, change your phone number and don't let him know where you are.
I would highly recommend doing just that. He'* pulled you into a load of crap. It would be a PITA for you to move, but if it continues, you'll be pulled into the same hole your dad got into dh2

I Apologize for being rude in any way, but that'* just my opinion.

Very sorry to hear what has happened. Chemical addiction can be a very horrible thing. For many people, a one time experience with cocaine becomes a involuntary addiction. These addictions impact much more than the user and you are living proof.

Your Dad may be toast for many years unless he gets rehabilitated. Salvation Army has a program called ARC that doesn't require any money and is a 6 month residential program.

And for you- now what...... you may want to ask yourself that. Many attorneys are slow now. What can you offer an Attorney other than money? I went to court once without an attorney and got my clock cleaned. Learned that without an attorney- you are guilty in most judges process as court, judges and attorneys are a "club" and it is inappropriate not to play by the "club" rules. This is not always the case, but often is.

Find a way to get an attorney. Barter, beg, work a 3rd job- whatever it takes.

Talk to someone in the court house. Like the prosecuting attorney Explain to him, you have the bill of sale, Your dad never completed the title work. So your stuck with 3k dollars.

Ask him what he thinks, (he is the guy that influences the judges opinion) Ask him if he knows of anyways to get a public defender, (most states have them)
