$.85 gas

local promotion running tomorrow in the town i work in, madelia, from 8am - 12pm.

E85 is real big around here, so they are trying to get people excited about it... so by dropping the price to $.85 per gallon of E85 people get intriged...

im driving the van now, so i am going to be filling up every container i can for $.85, think i will see any negative effects on 1-2 tanks worth other than bad mileagee?

Wait you are gonna put E85 in a non E85 vehicle? I wouldnt but thats just me.

Shadow 09-13-2006 06:51 PM

Although the PCM may be able to correct the pulse and actuall run on E85, alcohol is corrosive and your engines internals ARE NOT PROTECTED. An E85 vehicles internals are all coated to deal with the corrosive alcohol... fwiw.

Andrew... your van may run like shit on E85. It's basically closer to alcohol than gasoline. When you run it, you have to have a PCM, FPR, and injectors that will increase the fueling and spark accordingly for the different energy and burn rate of E85. If you like the van and care to keep driving it, I wouldn't do it. Only in a beater car that you don't care about.

Again, I'm not sure exactly what might happen, but I vote a big "NO" on this idea.
