Inherited 1987 Bonneville
Hi all. I have just become the proud owner of my Dad'* 1987 powder blue beauty. 89,000 K and Dad'* pride and joy. Thrilled to read somewhere that it was voted sedan of the year for 88. I had to wait a long time for him to give it up. He is 89 years young. Drove it across the prairies this summer in extreme heat and it purred. Has a little rust but otherwise in prime condition. Have to take it for inspection this week and a little nervous as to what they will find.

sorry yes that'* kilometers. Dad didn't drive much in the past few years and he gave up driving last September. He said then that the car was mine but there was no way I would take it right away as it was his baby. It stayed in his garage all winter (-40C most daysin Winnipeg) and started like a charm in June. I finally brought it home this September and I LOVE it. Any hints you can give me on maintenance for an old beauty (not me - the car ). Dad took excellent care of it. I'm thrilled to find this forum. Wait till I tell Dad.

Thanks all for welcome. Will get my son to take some pics soon and post them. I'm on a day off and have spent all day reading on this site. Was the 1988 the first model year of the Bonneville? It was my Dad'* first and only new car and he was so proud of it. Didn't get any fancy shmancy extras like power windows or doors though so I'll have to get used to cranking the windows. Also right now the radio doesn't work but I notice it is the same fuse as the "you left your lights on beeper" so that'* an easy fix. My son is handy with cars and can't wait to get at it.
By the way it SNOWED in Calgary today. Yikes!

Wow,you're in for a world of learning 'bout Bonne history. They go way back before '88, I could be wrong but I thought they started in '55. I know the '58 model was the pace car for that year'* Indy 500 race.

Dummie me
LOL Yup I'm pretty clueless when it comes to cars in general. On a very steep learning curve and at the bottom of the hill. The reason I thought that is that i hadn't read anything before 87.
