Hi guys,

I finally broke down last year and bought a "newer" car after being stuck in the 60's and 70's (still there too).

I stored and detailed a friends brand new (yes, brand new vehicles need detailing too, from ride on the truck) stored his GNX for many months. I am a Buick freak it has been said (I wear that proudly though:D) and while I loved the sound of the Mc Lauren built 3800 in the X and GN's I trusted my big block GS's over this wild 6 bangers I was convinced would wear out quickly.

Years later watched many of my beloved big block Gran Sports get WAXED by the "little sixes" and resolved I would get one if I ever had the chance.

A GN never presented itself because I was to busy dumping money into my list of GS's though.

I decided I needed to find something a little off the beaten track.

So I am on Craigslist and I typed in "Super Charged". I almost picked off a SC Riviera and then saw this "little" (Hey I still have a 1960 Electra 225 convert. when "225" stood for the length of the car from bumper to bumper! So a Bonneville is "little" to me ha ha).

So here is this 2000 SSEI Bonneville. Guy was a Mopar nut and I had some Mopar eye candy and some 57 Chevy parts for his friends drag car so a Wagoneer cargo area worth of a bunch of junk I would never use and $1000 in cold hard cash (yeh I am a BIG spender! ha ha) and I secured this black Super Charged luxo boat.

Sticker on it new was over 35k in 2000 and it is loaded.Bose, roof, power everything,HUD(Heads Up Display "in" windshield" that reminds me of the "Magic Mirror in my 60 225) optional 17 chrome factory Pontiac rims etc etc

Car was filthy and they smoked but you would never know today. I have intensly detailed it at least 5 times and my friends still will start shaking there head for no reason and say " I STILL can't believe you got this thing for $1000 and some parts!!!"

Got to love your cars and live on the ads. Took me years to find the right deal as I am sure many of you on here can relate to.

Anyhow I am a newbie to computerized cars and alll the parts with ALL the darn abbreviations but I am learning quickly. I had to quit the family business after over 30 years which has forced the Bonneville into service (other option was a 1970 GS-455 I am restoring but gas MIGHT be a tad high!)

So I am here to try and learn and wring out all the spare ponies hiding in this Series II L-67 3800. I don't want to go into the engine (has 130k on it and runs good except for low boost which I think is the BCS) and don't want to hurt it's dependability but I DO want to have funbr2br2.

You came to the right place. Alot of maintenance and modding experience here and we don't like to sacrifice fum for tech. Each has it's place here and often mix. Alot to read here about mods big and small and answers to questions are as easy as starting a thread. Don't be shy and by all means lets see that Bonne! We started out as just the "luxo boat" BonnevilleForum before deciding to take all of GM on.

First thing I would invest in would be and OBDII diagnostic trouble code scanner. There are disadvantages to all the computerization, but also quite a few advantages. Having a scanner lets you tap into some of the advantages. Sometimes your car can tell you what is wrong when it gets sick.

Appreciate the nice welcome guys!

Now I need to find all the dope on turning the heat up on this engine, like what is the best air induction set-up.

I see a bunch of cheap cone filters and plumbing but not sure if that is Mickey Mouse stuff or if it will get the job done. Would like to keep it clean and stock looking(mount the cone filter in the stock box, gutted out possible?) for now until I am ready to ad some bling factor:cool:

Once it is running mean then I will show off in other words

For anyone who might like a story on a cool R&D GM Experimental block from 1970 I discovered here is my 15 minutes of fame ha ha. Love my Buicks!
