Default Almost Classic Bonneville

I'm new to this forum but an 8 year owner of my Bonneville. Purchaced this machine on 11/4/1998 with only 134,325 miles on it for Two Thousand bucks and it has been the best car I have ever owned. As a senior citizen of a car, it is making me work a little, I just changed a steering rack, steering column, replaced front ball joints and rear wheel knuckles to get back brakes and emergency brakes. Rust is a problem, I spray paint this car to cover it. In 2003 rust killed some of the brakelines and gaslines, I replaced them from a wrecking yard. I just pulled down the headliner and rope caulked the leaky sunroof, stopped most of the nasty water leak. But as a financially impoverished urban citizen, I love having this car, this 3800 (original 3800 of course, only 165 hp) lasts and lasts, runs quietly and smoothly like an early 2000'* period car!! I put Walmart 5W30 in it every 3,000 miles, last oil change at approximately 279,600 . I've put in a 7 band equilizer radio cassette mooched from a '94 Bonnie SSE at a wrecking yard. I recommend these Bonnevilles, as well as any other GM possessing a 3800 engine for anyone wanting a long lasting car!!!

Glad you're here! As you've already learned, the 3800 is one incredible motor! It'* not uncommon for folks to get over 300,000 on the original engine - especially on the older naturally aspirated engines.
