Default New User -- 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP

Greetings,

I'm a new user seeking to economically extend the life of my 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. Perhaps I'm deluded, but even at 145,000 miles, it is still a great car.

The problem that brought me to the forum deals with my supercharger which has suddenly failed. I suspect the boost control actuator and will research in the appropriate places here at GMForum.com. The goal is to avoid a mechanic holding me hostage to an unnecessary supercharger replacement. The unit still quietly spins, but there is not boost indicated or actual--I'm amazed at the loss of power during acceleration.

Thanks to all for a place to participate and learn!

Regards,
Monte

Use your hand to rev the engine, does the actuator move? If not, check the vacuum lines, replace if needed. they do get brittle with time. Generic vacuum line works fine. If you have vacuum and it'* still not working, can you move the by pass arm? If so the actuator may be bad. ZZ performance sells them. Easy to replace. Most anything you need to do to keep your car running and out of the shop can be found here.

Your response, along with the other greetings, is inspiring me to take this into my own hands. I'll follow the advice and get back with you. I had previously scoured the Internet without finding ZZ Performance. Thanks for that tip, too!

I must say the group is amazingly friendly and supportive.

I'll get back to you guys after my inspection tour--courtesy of Danthurs...
